Week commencing 13th April 2026
What a great first week back!
In English, we have been developing our creativity by learning how to use metaphors to make our writing more vivid and imaginative. We also explored the features of a Tanka poem, looking closely at its structure and style. The children then planned and wrote their own beautiful Tanka poems based on a robot, carefully choosing words to create imagery and emotion.

In Maths, we focused on fractions and decimals. The children worked on finding tenths and hundredths, as well as solving a range of fraction problems. They also applied their knowledge to real-life contexts, including simple measure and money problems involving fractions. In our decimals work, pupils learned to recognise and write decimal equivalents for tenths and practised comparing numbers with one decimal place.
In Science, we continued our topic on electricity by building and drawing circuits. The children enjoyed creating their own circuits and learning how a switch can control the flow of electricity.

In Art, we began researching notable artists such as; Claude Monet, Salvador Dali, Jean Miro, Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincet Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Michelangelo Buonarrotti, exploring different styles and discussing what makes their work unique and inspiring.
It has been a fantastic week of learning, and we are very proud of the children’s enthusiasm and effort!
