Smartphone Free Childhood

Supporting a Smart Phone Free Childhood

At our school, we are committed to supporting children to grow up happy, safe, and ready to thrive in both their learning and their friendships. That’s why we are proud to be supporting the Smart Phone Free Childhood initiative.

Why Smart Phone Free Childhood?

Research shows that access to smartphones at a young age can have a negative impact on children’s mental health, sleep, concentration, and friendships. By delaying smartphone ownership, children have more time to enjoy childhood, develop face-to-face social skills, and build healthy habits online and offline.

What We’re Doing as a School

  • Promoting safe and balanced use of technology – we teach children about online safety, screen time balance, and respectful digital behaviour.

  • Encouraging play and real-world connection – our curriculum and enrichment opportunities give children plenty of time to enjoy sports, creativity, and friendships without screens.

  • Working together with parents – we know children thrive best when home and school are consistent in their approach.

How Parents Can Help

We invite all families to support the initiative by signing the Smart Phone Free Childhood Pact. By joining the pact, parents and carers agree to delay giving their child a smartphone until at least the end of primary school.

Together, we can make a powerful difference for our children by giving them the gift of a phone-free childhood.
