Promoting Anti-Racism, Tolerance and Respect

At our school, we are proud to be a diverse, inclusive community where every child is valued, respected and celebrated. Promoting anti-racism, equality and tolerance is not a one-off event, but an integral part of who we are and how we educate our pupils every day.

Through both our formal and informal curriculum, we actively teach children to recognise, respect and embrace difference. Our curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that a wide range of ethnicities, cultures, histories and perspectives are represented wherever possible across subjects, including English, history, geography, PSHE and the wider curriculum. Children are encouraged to ask questions, challenge stereotypes and develop empathy, understanding and respect for others.

Our school values underpin everything we do. Assemblies, class discussions and circle times provide regular opportunities to explore themes such as fairness, kindness, respect, equality and standing up for what is right. These shared moments help children to understand their role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

We proudly celebrate Black History Month, using it as an opportunity to learn about influential Black individuals, achievements and contributions, while also reinforcing the message that Black history is an essential part of our shared history all year round. Cultural celebrations, events and learning experiences help children to appreciate the richness of our diverse world.

We actively support Show Racism the Red Card, taking part in workshops, assemblies and learning activities that promote anti-racism and challenge discrimination in all its forms. These experiences help pupils to understand the impact of racism and empower them to speak up, show allyship and make positive choices.

Above all, we aim to create a school where difference is not just accepted, but embraced. We want every child to feel safe, confident and proud of who they are, while developing the knowledge, values and attitudes needed to be respectful, compassionate citizens in modern Britain and beyond.
