Week Beginning 7th September 2026 

The children have settled in really well to Reception, and we are very proud of how well they are engaging with their new environment and activities. 

Our topic this term is ‘All About Me’. As part of this learning, the children have been making pictures of themselves, including one where they had to think about what they want to be when they grow up.

The children love being outside and are making the most of the climbing frames and swing.

The children also had their first music lesson this week, when they had fun singing and moving around like different animals. They have also enjoyed playing the drums and instruments in the garden this week too!

Next Tuesday, the children will be taking part in their first Forest School session, so please make sure they have their wellies and waterproofs in school on that day. Thank you.  

Reminder – PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays; children come into school wearing their PE kits on those two days.  Please make sure all hair is tied back, and earrings are taken out on those days.

  

 

Week beginning 14th September 2026 

This week the children have been very busy! We are so pleased that everyone has settled into their new school routines. 

Forest school was a real success. Both classes loved meeting Mrs Lovell and exploring the forest school area. The favourite activity was exploring the slide and big swing.   

 

 

To continue our learning about ourselves, each child has painted a self-portrait, thinking about the colours and shapes they needed to use to create their paintings. These have been proudly displayed in our classroom windows.  

 

We also introduced our My Happy Mind characters, Betty and Berty. The children enjoyed listening to a story all about perseverance and trying when things are difficult. We then spoke about our brains and how they help us to remember new learning. We will be building on this in the coming weeks.  

 

Next week we will be introducing our twice-daily phonics lessons and your child will be bringing home their first reading book.
