Thomas Willingale School and Nursery

Rhian Jenkins

I have always lived in the local area and both my children attended Thomas Willingale Primary School and Nursery.

I have been a Governor at the school for 20 years and am in my fifth term. I was elected as a Parent Governor in 2004 and then after my youngest daughter left the school in July 2011 I continued as a Co-Opted Governor. I have been Chair of the Governing Body since March 2012 and strive to lead our Governing Body in a way that supports and challenges the leadership of the school, as the champions of the children to ensure they receive the best possible education they can access at our school, providing them with a rich and varied curriculum to both challenge and engage them in their learning to become highly successful citizens.

I have had the privilege of being part of the process of selecting our two most recent Headteacher’s and am secure in the knowledge that Miss Phillips strives to ensure the school is and remains a fantastic place to learn along with the support of Mrs Collins, Mrs Ford-Richards and the staff and you the parents/carers of our wonderful children.

I am passionate about how education can transform the lives of young people and as well as being a Parent and Governor have worked in Primary education for the past 15 years in various Primary Schools.

Our Journey has sometimes been a difficult one but I am confident that as a 'good' school we will continue to improve the outcomes of all our children and wish them all every success in the coming school year.
