English vision and intent at TWS
Reading
At Thomas Willingale School and Nursery our (Reading) vision is to foster a lifelong love of reading and literature, using quality texts to inspire, excite and engage our children. We intend that our pupils will become independent, fluent readers who can use their reading skills to access all areas of the curriculum and select engaging books to read for pleasure.
Speaking and listening
We aspire to enable our children to be confident and effective communicators who can articulate their own feelings, opinions and ideas. We aim for all children to listen with respect and understanding, valuing the thoughts and views of others.
Writing
Our vision is to inspire and encourage our children to be capable and confident writers who can independently express themselves and communicate with others. They will have the opportunity to write for a wide range of purposes, reflecting on their own work and the work of others and develop a genuine enthusiasm for writing.
