My name is Lorna Ford Richards and I am the Inclusion Manager at Thomas Willingale School and Nursery. I am also the Staff Representative on the Governing Body. In addition, I am responsible for organising training opportunities for our Governors in my role as the Link Training Governor.
I very much enjoy my role and I am proud to work at our school. I have been working at Thomas Willingale School and Nursery since September 2012 and I have been a member of the Governing Body since 2012. Prior to joining our school I was a Staff Representative on the Governing Body at my previous school.
Prior to joining Thomas Willingale Primary School and Nursery, I achieved my MA in Education in 2012. This involved a five year course whilst carrying out my full time teaching post. This course enabled me to focus on Special Educational Needs.
During my time at our school, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to develop my skills and experience. I gained my National Award for SEN Co-ordination in 2013 and progressed to the Advanced SENCos as Leaders Award which I completed in July 2015. Additionally, I have obtained Specialist Leader in Education status and I am one of the Essex Partnership SENCos. I am always keen to continue to learn and keep pace with the latest methods and directives in order to achieve the best for our pupils.
My role enables me to regularly report important updates on Special Educational Needs and the Pupil Premium to the Governors. I attend the Full Governing Body meetings and I am a member of the Curriculum Committee.
I enjoy being a Staff Governor at our school as I believe that it is important to have strong communication between School Staff and the Governors who support us.
This role also gives me the opportunity to further contribute to our wonderful school community.
