Thomas Willingale School and Nursery

Staffing news

26th June 2015

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we begin our transition day here in school I just wanted to make you aware of some staffing changes we have from September.

Mrs Smith teacher of Willow class is retiring at the end of the year, she has worked at Thomas Willingale for 19 years and has been an absolute credit to the school and management team, we wish her all the very best but we do expect to see her back when we need cover!

Mme Beaumanoir teacher of Lime class is leaving us, as she would like to spend more time concentrating on her family. She has been with Thomas Willingale for 11 years and has been an asset to the school. We wish her all the very best and we hope to still see her, covering our classes in the future.

Gina Wright, our family school coordinator, (as many of you know already) is retiring, her successor is one of our own - Michele Hinton and she has been working with Gina over this last term to ensure a smooth handover. Gina has been at the school for 11 years. She has been a tremendous asset to the school and our families and I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the best as she takes off on her retirement travels.

Mrs Moore one of our LSA’s will be leaving to start school direct training at Glade primary school, this is a very exciting opportunity for her to train as a teacher and all of our best wishes go with her.

Mrs Chapman has been with us delivering Speech and Language interventions and working at the school for the last 11 years. She is also retiring and I know it was a tough decision for her to make. She will be sorely missed and we wish her well.

Our LSA Miss Jones is off to ‘sunnier climes’ as her family are starting a hotel business on the Isle of Wight. We wish her well and hope to visit her with our buckets and spades!

We welcome Miss Woolnough, teacher in Spruce class, who has been teaching in Hackney for the last few years. We also welcome Mrs Bromelow, who will be teaching in Year 3 with Mrs Johnson.

I am pleased to say that Mrs Holland was successful in achieving her qualified teacher status with us this year and is staying with us as a teacher of Year 5 for next year. (We congratulate her on this great achievement).

To teach our French lessons we welcome Mrs Lovell, who will teach French in KS1 and KS2.
To teach some of our sports lessons we welcome a very qualified multi skilled coach and football player called Luke Cuthbert.

Working alongside our teachers as part of Schools Direct training will be Miss Hartnell in Year 2 and Miss Ager in Reception.

Joining our LSA team we welcome, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Davies, Mrs Duffy, Mrs Robinson, Ms Pewter, Mrs Reeve and Miss Jones.

I know you will join me in wishing all of our leavers and starters the very best, we are very excited about the year ahead and have a great team in place to ensure the school keeps going from strength to strength.

We hope the children have enjoyed their transition day and come home ‘buzzing’ about their new classes and the thoughts of next year. I am aware that children can be anxious about change, so if they are particularly struggling with this then please do speak to us.

Have a lovely weekend with kind regards,

Miss Teresa Phillips
